True Ground Attends YIMBY Town 2025 Conference

Jessica Sarriot of VOICE speaking on the “Organizing with Faith Institutions” panel at YIMBY town 2025 with True Ground’s Policy and Project Manager Brian Goggin.
This September, True Ground’s Policy & Project Manager Brian Goggin attended the national YIMBY Town 2025 conference (September 14-16) in New Haven Connecticut. This is an annual gathering of the national “Yes In My Backyard” (YIMBY) movement working to reduce barriers to building housing nationwide. Over 3 days, nearly 1,000 advocates and professionals gathered to discuss efforts across the country to reform zoning and building practices to create more housing. At this year’s conference, Brian presented some of True Ground’s successful faith-housing projects with local churches on the panel entitled “Organizing with Faith Institutions to Build Power in Support of Pro-Homes Campaigns”. The panel discussed the important need for zoning reform to unlock more housing on faith-owned land. Also presenting on the panel were Jessica Sarriot, Co-Executive Director of VOICE, Alice Tewell, Pastor of Clarendon Presbyterian Church, Nicholas Berkowitz, Director of Communications at Open New York, and Briana Paxton, Revitalization Policy Analyst with Smart Growth Maryland.
