True Ground Housing Partners Celebrates The Linden Senior Residences’ Grand Opening
New Loudoun County community creates 130 affordable homes for adults aged 55 and older
Loudoun County, VA: September 28, 2026 —True Ground Housing Partners celebrated the grand opening of The Linden Senior Residences, a new affordable community creating 130 apartments for adults aged 55 and older in Loudoun County.
Located at 42715 Avonlea Grand Drive in South Riding near Chantilly, VA, The Linden serves residents earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income (AMI). This new development, True Ground’s second senior community in Loudoun, expands access to quality affordable homes so that adults can age in place while maintaining a high quality of life. “The Linden shows what is possible when thoughtful design, resident-centered services, and strong partnerships come together. This community offers residents welcoming spaces, resources to support their wellbeing, and a foundation to shape their next chapter,” said True Ground President and CEO, Carmen Romero. “We are proud that The Linden will expand housing opportunity in Loudoun County.”
Community Features
The Linden pairs thoughtfully designed homes with amenities that support residents’ interests, connections, and wellbeing. The community features 10,000 square feet of amenity space, including a fitness center with specialized equipment for aging adults, accessible gathering spaces, a wellness suite, and business center. Furnishings such as game tables, outdoor exercise equipment, raised garden beds, courtyard space with a bocce court, and free high-speed Wi-Fi allow residents to connect and build community. Elements of Universal Design and fully accessible units at The Linden support residents’ mobility and independent living.
The Linden is part of a larger community master-planned by Peterson Companies, that will include retail, offices, and additional housing. A planned second phase, The Maple, in partnership with Gibson Spyre LLC, will add affordable family housing next door, creating a multigenerational, affordable community where residents of all life stages can thrive. “My apartment is accessible and incorporates modern design. I’m so thrilled to be here,” said Linden resident Kevin Porreco. “I now have a home I can afford that is state of the art. Every morning I wake up, look out the window, and give gratitude.”
True Ground’s CORES-certified Resident Services program will provide onsite support and programming grounded in resident choice and wellbeing. Thanks to a partnership with HealthWorks for Northern Virginia, residents at The Linden can access onsite services to support mental and physical wellbeing, bringing trusted healthcare resources within reach.
Financing and Partners
The Linden is an approximately $64 million development, including nearly $33 million in construction costs. Virginia Housing awarded the project both 9% and 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), making it True Ground’s ninth project to employ this complex financing model. Truist invested approximately $29 million in tax credit equity. Additional financing includes more than $6 million through Loudoun County’s Affordable Multi-Family Housing Loan Program, $14 million in Virginia Housing permanent debt, $7.5 million from Virginia Housing’s Amazon REACH Fund, $1.4 million in Virginia Housing Trust Fund financing, and $4 million through Virginia’s Housing Innovations in Energy Efficiency (HIEE) program, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. “The Loudoun Community Cabinet is honored to have partnered on The Linden by providing a predevelopment grant that helped bring this beautiful community to fruition. Early investment is often what turns a good idea into homes people can actually move into.
