True Ground Announces Nekita Jones as Senior Director of Philanthropy
ARLINGTON, VA (October 8, 2025) True Ground Housing Partners announced today the appointment of Nekita Jones as its Senior Director of Philanthropy. In this role, Jones will direct the organization’s philanthropy strategy, overseeing individual, foundation, and corporate giving, as well as efforts to grow annual revenue and sustain True Ground’s ambitious goals.
“Philanthropy has the power to build strong communities and address affordable housing needs across the DC region,” said Carmen Romero, True Ground President and CEO. “Nekita’s leadership will advance our efforts to create long-term change in housing, establish an ecosystem of support for residents, and ensure everyone has a foundation to live their dreams. It is through charitable partnerships that we can make a real difference.”

Before joining True Ground, Ms. Jones served as Director of Development at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where she helped lead their fundraising program – working to build new relationships and strengthen key partnerships with funders and donors looking to promote systemic change, reduce poverty, and advance economic equity through sound, data-driven policies She managed a portfolio of six- and seven-figure donors while supervising a growing development team, and implementing strategic fundraising initiatives. Her prior leadership roles include directing fundraising and communications at Homestretch, and building corporate partnerships and annual fund strategies at Cornerstones. Throughout her career, Ms. Jones has been recognized for her ability to create innovative donor programs, integrate storytelling with strategy, and advance sustainable revenue growth.

I look forward to contributing to this movement and ensuring all neighbors can thrive.”
Jones holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
